The Job I Lost and the God Who Showed Out

What would you do?
Picture this. You have just had major surgery. A myomectomy. They tell you that you can return to some normal physical activity, maybe even go back to work, after six weeks. What they don't always tell you is that recovering properly could take up to a year.
I was about six to eight weeks post-op, still very sore, when I realised that people in my office were planning and plotting to have me sacked.
It went as far as trying to prove that I had lied about having surgery. Someone went to the hospital and paid for my medical records to be released to them, without my consent, just to prove a case and prove a point.
It got to the point where someone in the office had a mysterious person puncture my car tyre. I didn't know it had been done. When I started the car and was about to get on the highway, I felt the steering wheel shaking, and I knew something was wrong with the car.
So it was necessary that I leave. Very, very, very necessary.
The instruction in the car
I was in the car on my way to the office when God told me to resign. All the action, all the up and down, all the plotting and scheming I was seeing. He wanted me out of that environment.
I was scared.
How would I survive? What was going to happen to me? Would I get another job? How would I eat? How would I live?
Then God began to walk me through how to plan my exit, so that I would still receive my last salary and have enough money to last me a while.
And I asked, "God, after that while, what happens?"
Blank.
Blank space.
Blank space.
Blank space.
I kid you not, it was a very scary moment. But I listened to God's instruction, and I put in my resignation letter.
I lost my job
Someone would say, "But you didn't lose your job. You resigned." I see it differently. I lost my job. Had I stayed, they were already putting everything in motion to make sure I lost it. I might as well leave on my own and find my way around life.
But think about what that means. Leaving a company while you are recovering from major surgery, at the exact time you need all the money possible to heal.
Healing takes everything
Post-op recovery is not easy. We underestimate what these things do to our bodies. In the first few months, so much of your energy goes into healing.
In the first few weeks especially, my energy was so low. The least thing I did, I would be tired, like I had lifted ten cement blocks. Just moving to the kitchen and back, and I was done. Everything in my body was going towards healing and recovery.
Well done to the women who have had C-sections, especially more than one. This process is very, very close to a C-section. Imagine going through it back to back to have your children.
It's heavy. Well done.
Doors that opened and closed
I applied for jobs. At the same time, people were reaching out to me on LinkedIn. They had seen my profile, and they said it was outstanding. Of all the jobs I was called to interview for, only one came from an application I sent myself. The rest came to me.
None of them ended up on good soil. Let me put it that way. None of those engagements went anywhere.
Zero
I resigned in May. By August, I had exhausted my funds. I was six months post-op, at home, with no job and very little cash.
That was when I understood the story of the rich man who told Jesus he wanted to follow Him, and Jesus told him to go, sell everything, and then come and follow Him. I understood.
I said, "God, I know You are here. I know You will take care of me. I have evidence of the things You have done in my life. This is a very interesting moment in my life, and I commit everything to You. Please come through for me. Take care of me. Be with me. Protect me.
This is a lot for me, different from anything I have ever experienced."
Then God showed out
I am telling you. The blessings I have experienced from the time my funds ran out until today are more than anything I experienced in my roughly eight years of work. It far surpasses it.
My God. I know You like to show out. I know You like to flex Your shoulders. And You have really flexed Your shoulders. What?! Thank you Jesus!
A text message
In October 2025, I was at home, still recovering.
I had met my mentor for the first time in April that year. We talked about some plans I was putting in place. We kept in touch after that, but we hadn't really been talking much.
Then on 22nd October 2025, I got a text message from her. She was inviting me to Cyber 360 Secure, a three-day workshop by Women in Cyber Security West Africa in collaboration with the Cyber Security Authority, the UK Government, the Cyber Intelligence and Security Bureau and TAG International. The theme was "Building a Safe, Informed and Accountable Digital Space: Strengthening Our Human Firewall."
She asked if I would be available. I said yes, I'll make it.
Mind you, I was still recovering. My strength had not returned, but I was pushing myself. As far as I was concerned, I was just going for a workshop. That was it.
6 a.m.
On the morning of 27th October 2025, around 6 a.m., I had literally just opened my eyes when she casually sent me a whole itinerary and a panel discussion question guide.
Huh. What is this?
She was asking me to stand in for her on that day's panel.
Whoa. This was wild.
First of all, this woman is no small person. She is the Chief Information Security Officer of the Ghana Association of Bankers, a big name in Ghana's banking cyber space. Just a few days earlier, I had seen her on the panel at the opening ceremony of National Cyber Security Month, a very big yearly celebration by the Cyber Security Authority. And now she was asking me to sit on a panel in her place.
Okay. Sure.
I got dressed and went through the discussion guide, wondering: How is this going to be? What am I going to experience? What is it going to look like?
I sat on the panel that first day, and it was a nice experience. Then, after the session, she told me I would be handling the other two days too.
I never anticipated that. But okay. Sure.
I went home, went through the itinerary for the next two days, thought about the kind of questions that would be asked and how I would answer them.
So I sat on the panel for all three days.
I'm telling you, this has been one of the highlights of my career. And it came in a season when I couldn't do anything for myself. I literally couldn't lift a finger.
The hand of God
In my season of nothingness, literal zeroness, God was manifesting His power through my life. Everything I thought I had achieved in my career before the surgery, through the surgery, and after that job. God telling me to resign in the car, and me obeying without knowing what was coming or how I would tell this story. My whole career was qualified in the very season I could not lift a finger. None of these things came by my strength or effort.
This can only be the hand of God. And I just want to say, thank You.
Unapologetically God's favourite
Some people say God doesn't play favourites. I'm sorry to tell you, you may have to throw that belief in the bin, because you are reading from one of God's favourites right now.
I have had to come to accept it. The kind of encounters, moments and situations I have experienced with God and in God. I am a favourite. Unapologetically.
I'm in baby girl mode now. Cast your burdens on Me, He says. And it's nice. It's really nice. It's so serious now that everything is, "Let me just tell God." I know He'll hear me. Everything is just, let me just tell God.
Truly, he that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him.
It feels good to be known by heaven, and to be known by the One who occupies heaven. He who sits in the heavens laughs. I want to be known as the woman who God is with. It feels so good to know I have a GREAT comfort in this lonely world.
God of chess, not checkers.
My God who already started a good thing, will see me to a GREAT and VERY PERFECT END. He has been perfecting all that concerns me and will continue to do so. He who sits in heaven shall protect me and all that concerns me bringing glory to His name. The Lord is roundabout me so I will not fear. God is within me, I can never fail. God is within her she will not fail. Psalm 46:5 What the enemy meant for evil, God has turned it around for my good. The Lord will perfect all that concerns me. God is with me. God, I LOVE YOUR SHOULDERS, FLEX THEM !
